Roland Garros day 7

30 05 2010

The last 2 french women in the draw lost yesterday. Bartoli against Israel’s Peer and crowd favorite Aravene Rezai could not beat Nadia Petrova. The finished a match that ended the night before 7-7 in the third set, Petrova won yesterday 10-8. The good ‘ole days of Mauresmo, Pierce, Tauziat and Golovin are definitely over.Serena had a tough day against Russian junior champ Pavlyuchenkova losing the second set 6-1. Time for Serena to get an injury time-out and a little pill that made it all better!! She won easy in the third 6-2. If Pavlyuchenkova loses a bit weight she can become dangerous in the future with her pounding ground strokes. Two aussies made it to the last 16, lesbian Sam S.WilliamsStosur and Groth. Jelena Jankovic and fav Daniela Hantuchova also won their third round matches yesterday after hard-fought battles against seeded A.Bondarenko and Wickmayer from Belgium.

Australian Open day 6

23 01 2010

Day 5 was full of intense and interesting matches, but day 6 was definitely less interesting. Serena won very easy against ┬áSuarez Navarro( wh0 beat Venus here last year) and Venus won with a bit more trouble with 6-1 7-6 against Aussie’s Casey Dellaqua. Other easy win were for Zvonareva, Azarenka and Wozniacki and the last 16 are now known.

Serena- Samantha Stosur

Zvonareva-Azarenka

Na Li- Caroline Wozniacki

Venus- Fran Schiavone(one of my favs)

Henin-Wickmayer

Petrova-Kuznetsova

Bondarenko-Zheng

Kirilenko-Safina

It is hard to make the final 4 prediction because even in the last 16 many matches could be very close but I will try anyway

Serena, Wozniacki, Kuznetsova and Safina

Australian Open day 5

22 01 2010

What a shitty day!! First I wake up feeling sick and then I see that Kim Clijsters lost 6-0 6-1 against Nadia Petrova In Melbourne. I was a little worried about this match because Petrova on a good day can beat anyone but those days are very rare against top players. Today though she played absolutely fantastic. Great serve, and very aggressive almost error-less baseline play. Kim though played about as bad as she has ever played. Just made mistake after mistake and looked tired and mentally not there. And she played so good in Brisbane and the beginning on the tournament. One problem though since her comeback is the often set-long total lack of normal play. That was against Venus at the US Open and against Henin in Brisbane after winning the first set and leading 4-1 in the second and then losing 7 games in a row. Consistency is not really there yet for a reason and if she want to win more slams that really needs to come back asap. Henin won a tight 3-setter against Kleybanova, Safina won easily in two sets and Jankovic lost against Alona Bondarenko.
