Gay News,Hawaii Gov. compares gay marriage to incest, Top Chef judge on Gay Pride float, separate showers if DADT is repealed?

14 07 2010

Linda Lingle, the Governor of Hawaii, who vetoed the civil unions bill of the state last week said on air that if gay marriage is a civil right than close relatives should also be able to get married, because that could be seen as a civil right as well. Lingle said ” First cousins could not get married, or a brother and sister and that sort of thing.” First off comparing gay marriage to incest is super insulting, second first cousins CAN actually get married in Hawaii. What a stupid bitch.

Top Chef Judge Tom Colicchio can be seen on a bear float during LA Gay Pride 2011. He told Andy Cohen during Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live” that he was insulted that no one in the bear community had asked him to be on a float during this years Gay Pride. After the show Bravo got flushed with phone calls and “A Bear’s Life Magazine” set it up. Because of his stocky build Colicchio, who is married with kids,  has been an icon in the bear community for quite sometime. Even though his restaurants have underwhelmed me often, this is pretty cool.

Friday it was made clear that if DADT will be repealed there might be some changes in the living situation of military people. The Pentagon is now heavily denying wanting separate barracks and showers after heavy criticism from the gay community and says there is only talk about maybe some extra shower curtains. Fuck that, how can a president whose father has been subjected to segregation even consider some of these things. Very repulsive.

The U.K. AIDS hospice made famous back in the 80’s by the visit of Princess Diana will be torn down. In 1989 the Princess of Wales was one of the first famous people to touch and hug people living with HIV/AIDS. Incredibly important in breaking the taboos.

Gay news, gay pride float set on fire, Costa Rica, gay beating in Britain, DADT

4 07 2010

A gay pride float built, like every year, by a straight couple from Anchorage, Alaska was set on fire last week. Neighbors claim to have seen someone running from the scene just before the fire. The couple plan to use the ashes and pieces of scorch to make a new float called “Phoenix Rising.”

Costa Rica’s higher court suspended an upcoming vote on same-sex marriage because it might violate the nation’s constitution. Opponents of the referendum have argues that it is unfair to let 93% of people decide the faith of 7%. I agree with that.

A gang of up to 15 men and women have attacked a gay couple in Bradford, UK. The victims needed hospital treatment for head injuries after being struck by makeshift weapons from a skip. The gang chased the men, 21 and 37 and used gay slurs. Fucking savages.

A clip to show what is really going on with DADT, CNN did a good job with this.

Gay news, bigot Arizona mayor, gays still banned from donating blood ,shelter in NY vandalized, Iceland gay marriage

12 06 2010

A Yuma, Arizona mayor does not want a repeal of DADT because lacy-drawered, limp-wristed gays can never do what military people have done in the last. He says Lincoln and Washington would have said the same things. Yeah, the world has not changed in over 100 years.

Against science and odds gays are still not allowed to donate blood. After 2 days of hearings a HHS committee voted 9-6 against recommending lifting the FDA ban on gays donating blood. Anyone that has had gay sex since 1977 is not allowed to donate. Retarded.

A shelter in Queens, New York for homeless LBGT Youth was hit with anti-gay vandalism thursday night. One of the walls read “We don’t want gays here.” What a bunch of fucking cowards to do that to kids that are already so vulnerable and often abused. The Ali Forney is such a great initiative because so many LGBT youth have no home after parents disown then and throw them out. Donations are always needed.

Iceland’s parliament voted 49-0!!!  to legalize gay marriage. Wish the U.S would only have 60% of that. Iceland is also the country with the first elected openly gay head of state and a country I would love to visit for its natural beauty. With their economy in the shitter they know that there are way more important things then to keep people from being equal in love.

Gay news, gays skinny/lezzies fat, CBS poll 77% of U.S knows gay people, DADT repeal harmful for children, Repent

10 06 2010

A news study by the American Journal of public health showed that gay men were 50% less likely to be obese than straight men. Lesbian women though are 50% more likely to be obese. Conclusion is that people in sexual relationships with men have more pressure to look thin and attractive then people who have sex with women. Not a surprise here!!

A poll done by CBS showed that 77% of americans say they know someone who is gay or lesbian. In 1992 that was only 42%. 43% of americans see homosexuality as wrong, that used to be 62%. Seems that visibility is a good thing. I bet a lot more than 77% know gays, some just do not know.

According to Rep Ike Skelton, Democrat,MO repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is harmful because it would mean families will be put in the difficult situation of explaining homosexuality to kids. Why?? And why is that bad, you fool.

Repent is “an army of evangelicals” from Texas that go to swinger-clubs, strip bars and gay bars and film the visitors of those places while screaming they are sinners. They also make notes of the license plates and try to scare people into going to “sinful” places. It has already become a national organization. Scary.

Gay news, DADT-deal, celebrities (Gaga and Jason Mraz)gay witch-hunt in Kenya

25 05 2010

Yesterday the White House and top Democrats made a deal for the repeal of DADT. It is still a little hush-hush and vaguely termed but the overall picture is that soon the congress will be able to vote on repealing the ban on gays in the military(votes in favor or against are too close to call). The change though will not happen until dec 1 and the president would also be required to certify it does not harm military readiness. I first have to see it before I believe it, but it is a step in the right direction. Good day for gays AND for the military.

Lady Gaga loves the fact that people think she has a penis because that makes it even more special that people come to see her and don;t care what she is. Gay culture is at the very essence of who she is and she will fight for the gay community until she dies, Gaga says. Straight singer Jason Mraz explains one of the reasons he is such an ally to the LGBT community. He was beaten up and called a faggot at school himself and when one of his friends came out at the same time he realized how brave that is. Love artists that are so open and honest.

Kenya police had to protect 3 gay men who were about to be lynched by their fellow villagers. People from the village were trying to open the door of the house the gays were living and cops were just in time. A month ago people from Mnarani had sent a petition to the government for the removal of the gays. Poor guys…

A gay man who was beating up terribly in Ontario, Canada last summer has pleaded guilty to assault for doing something back!! The thugs shouted faggot and threw bricks at the gays and after on of the gay men pulled one thug of his friend’s back, he kicked him. He has no money to defend himself in court and just pleaded guilty. He only got a conditional discharge that will disappear as a criminal record in a year but still… How wrong is this??!!

Gay news, Expedia opens gay store, Harvey Milk dayMoscow Pride satanic, Gay blood ban

22 05 2010

Travel site Expedia.com has opened a Gay Travel Store on their website since yesterday on http://www.expedia.com/daily/gaytravel/default.asp. They partner with International Gay&Lesbian Travel Association to help find and identify gay-friendly hotels all over the world. I just had a look and it is pretty cool except for the fact that with hotels in for instance NY or Amsterdam I do not understand why some hotels are listed as gay-friendly and others not…. What qualifies as being gay-friendly? I probably keep (small)luxury hotels of the world as my number 1 but this might be a good alternative.

Today is the first Harvey Milk Day. It is only an official holiday in California but all over the U.S there are parties and events. As most of you know he was the first elected openly gay official in the U.S and was killed shortly after. People that do not know the importance of Harvey, should watch the movie Milk or one of the documentaries made about his life. Celebrations in his beloved Castro neighborhood will be biggest but also in LA, San Diego and NY marches and events for equality will be held. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will kick off a fundraiser in SF on Market Street. Yesterday she promised DADT would be over by the end of the year. Hope she can keep her promise. Below Milk Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black about the importance of Harvey Milk.

For the 5th year in a row Moscow Gay Pride was banned by Mayor Yury Luzhkov. According to him it is satanic and he will do everything to stop the event May 29. Moscow authorities have also blocked the website promoting the pride, GayRussia.Ru. How democratic.

There might come an end to the FDA approved ban on gays giving blood donations. The Department of Health and Human services wants to hear presentations and engage in deliberations on the topic. Since september 1985 men who had sex with men(even once) were not allowed to donate. This change would be about time, there are tons of monogamous gay men who are HIV-negative and can donate.

Gay news, outrage Malawi sentence(Madonna/White House, Aussi news(Gay MP and football, gays in military does work, Backstreet boys at gay pride SF

21 05 2010

It seems that everyone is upset with the sentence of the Malawian gay couple yesterday. They got 14 years in jail and hard labour for being in love. First our minister for foreign affairs, christian democrat Maxime Verhagen called it terrible and says Malawi does not get any money from the Netherlands. He also calls for EU sanctions against Malawi. Madonna who is building a school there  also says she is shocked and saddened and thinks Malawi took a giant step backwards. The White House send out a statement strongly condemning it.

An Australian Labor MP(strong family values!) has resigned yesterday after being filmed leaving a gay sex sauna and club. He even used the ministerial car to go there. He is married with 2 children. Why are it always the “family values” guys.

Australian footballer leagues Jason Akermanis had the message for gay players to stay in the closet. He told in a column in the Herald Tribune that AFL footy is not ready for it. Using the showering together as the biggest reason while saying he is not homophobic. Why always she showering. Guys look at each other’s cocks anyway, gay or not. And what man does not look at a women’s tits?? Is that such a big deal?? His own club as well as others have distanced themselves from his comments as have other athletes.

Gays in the military are a non-issue in the Netherlands, Israel, England, Canada and Australia, officers of those countries have told at a DADT hearing. There are even benefits like better retention of qualified soldiers. Gays often do not have children and that is the main reason for many soldiers to leave the army in their 20’s/30’s.

And some light news to end this post. The Backstreet Boys will be performing at this year’s Gay pride in SF on june 27. They must be the most popular male band ever in the world to have performed at Pride. I have never been a fan at all, but good for them.
