Dutch gay news, no discrimination gays at school, gaydar explained, hate crimes law in Holland?

30 05 2010

Party Democrats’66 in the Netherlands have come up with a new law that would not allow discrimination against gays at schools. Schools from now on cannot fire or deny a teacher for the sole reason of being gay. So far that only happened at christian schools.

A research team from the University of Leiden(where my sister graduated) have come up with an explanation for a gaydar. They presented 42 people, both gay and straight with photos of outlines of large squares and rectangles. When the men and women were presented with similar question about the shown pictures, straights answered faster and made more mistakes. Gays were slower but had more answers right especially the smaller ones. Gays have higher perceptual skills and are more analytical that allows them to recognize other gays faster. I dunno, I do have a gaydar that works very well, but if it is because of this…

The Green Party in the Netherlands( a party that I normally do not care about, I am not green) have come up with a good new law-idea right before election time. Why not earlier??? They want a hate crimes law that gives harder punishments(with 1/3) against people because of their sexuality, religion, ethnicity, handicap or age. Of course I am against all acts of crime but I do think if it is for one of the above reasons, it should way harder. I have to be honest and say I care most about handicap or sexuality.

Gay news; NBA players calls guys faggots, “the Advocate” in trouble, christians want to get arrested

8 11 2009

Last week it was an NFL player that spewed his gay hate and this week it was an NBA player named Drew Gooden of the Dallas Mavericks that called two guys faggots. Apparently this is not the first time he did this, cause two brothers claim he called them faggots during a game on Halloween. (African-American) athletes need to stop this behavior asap. This is just getting childish and ridiculous.

The most famous and longest running gay magazine “the Advocate” is in trouble. First it already went from bi-weekly to once a month and now it will be sent jointly with OUT magazine. This seems to be the beginning of the end. I think it has two reasons, first that many people do not buy printed magazines anymore but read their news on the internet. Second that “the Advocate” was boring. Give me Passport, Gay Times, Attitude, Instinct any day over “the Advocate”.

A groups of religious clergymen will go to Washington DC on November 16. They want to protest against the “hate crimes bill” by screaming anti-gay language in the hope to get arrested. All to become the martyrs they want to be and call it a rally of religious freedom. How christian and loving is this, huh??
