Gay News,Hawaii Gov. compares gay marriage to incest, Top Chef judge on Gay Pride float, separate showers if DADT is repealed?

14 07 2010

Linda Lingle, the Governor of Hawaii, who vetoed the civil unions bill of the state last week said on air that if gay marriage is a civil right than close relatives should also be able to get married, because that could be seen as a civil right as well. Lingle said ” First cousins could not get married, or a brother and sister and that sort of thing.” First off comparing gay marriage to incest is super insulting, second first cousins CAN actually get married in Hawaii. What a stupid bitch.

Top Chef Judge Tom Colicchio can be seen on a bear float during LA Gay Pride 2011. He told Andy Cohen during Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live” that he was insulted that no one in the bear community had asked him to be on a float during this years Gay Pride. After the show Bravo got flushed with phone calls and “A Bear’s Life Magazine” set it up. Because of his stocky build Colicchio, who is married with kids,  has been an icon in the bear community for quite sometime. Even though his restaurants have underwhelmed me often, this is pretty cool.

Friday it was made clear that if DADT will be repealed there might be some changes in the living situation of military people. The Pentagon is now heavily denying wanting separate barracks and showers after heavy criticism from the gay community and says there is only talk about maybe some extra shower curtains. Fuck that, how can a president whose father has been subjected to segregation even consider some of these things. Very repulsive.

The U.K. AIDS hospice made famous back in the 80’s by the visit of Princess Diana will be torn down. In 1989 the Princess of Wales was one of the first famous people to touch and hug people living with HIV/AIDS. Incredibly important in breaking the taboos.

Gay news, no civil partnership Hawaii,Kylie wins gay prize, end to EU gay blood ban? Gay Pride Jerusalem, She’s back!!!

7 07 2010

Republican Governor Linda Lingle from Hawaii vetoed a bill yesterday that would have allowed same-sex civil unions in that state. Because Lingle invited Justice Steven Levinson, who back in 1993 found that the law banning gay marriage was unconstitutional, people expected she would sign the bill in favor of the civil unions. She thinks the bill is too similar to marriage though and that is only allowed for twice-divorced bitches like Lingle herself. Bigots were happy.

During Gay Pride in Madrid, Kylie Minogue was awarded a gay prize for her devotion to the gay community. She said it was a great honor and praised Spain for allowing gay marriage. Kylie sure deserves this prize, no big artist has been so supportive on gay issues for so many years. Except maybe for Madonna back in the day. Kylie is a lot more likeable though and that translates better to straight people.

Ministers from Health in several countries from the EU are planning to file a motion that in the EU gays should no longer be denied to donate blood. Just like in the U.S gays that have had sex since 1977 are not allowed to donate. Sweden is the only country that allows gay men to donate blood as long as they did not have sex in the last year. I think the whole rule is ridiculous, the only thing that matters is if people are safe, gay or straight. Definitely in these times.

District police of Jerusalem have changed their minds and granted permission for this year’s parade(end of the month) to terminate at the Knesset building. It is the one-year anniversary of the shootings in Tel Aviv at a gay center and getting to the Knesset is a proper way to symbolize what the parade is about. Full equal rights and an end to violence. Totally agree with that.

She is back. PhatGayKid is now lisping though Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.”

Top 10 road trip in the U.S.

28 05 2010

Yahoo published a list of THE 10 road trips in the U.S to take. Here they are.

–  Big Sur in California, around Carmel. Did it and loved it ,that area is so spectacular with the views of the ocean and the cliffs.

– Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Not yet

– Going to the sun, Montana. Not yet.

– Hana Highway, Hawaii. Not yet. Been to Hawaii but not there.

– Million Dollar Highway, Colorado. Impressive mountains, wildflowers, wildlife and neat little towns.

-Red Rock Scenic By Way, Sedona. So different from anything I had ever seen, just magical. Arizona was the most spectacular scenery I had ever seen in my life. Nothing like that in Europe.

-Sea Island, Georgia. Not yet but close to Savannah where Paula Deen has her restaurant so I will get there eventually.

-Seward Highway, Alaska. Not yet, but Alaska is on my wish list.

-Sonama and Napa valleys, California. Beautiful wine country with tons of great wineries. With a wine-lover as partner I have been there at least times.

U.S Route 1, Maine. 3 years ago my boyfriend and I took a long road-trip trough New England and i adore that area, the pretty english-looking towns, coastal beauty and great food. What more can you want!!

Surprised I did 5 out of 10 already while not being an American and being 31. I bet most 31-year old U.S folk have not done the same!!

Gay news, Hawaii civil unions, 22% U.S do not want gay supreme court member, Lance Bass dates Queer Eye, same-sex citizen sponsorship

1 05 2010

By a vote with 31-20, the Hawaii House approved of a civil unions bill after a motion by House Majority Leader Blake Oshiro. It already passed the Senate in January with 18-7. Gov, Linda Lingle has 45 days to decide if she wants to veto. Religious groups were shocked and unprepared to do any lobbying and are pissed, haha!!

22% of U.S citizens would see it as a strong negative if the next Supreme Court member would be gay. With senior citizens it is even 34(damn oldies!) With Republican it is 44 and White Evangelicals 51.

N’Syncer Lance Bass has dated many hot guys since coming out of the closet, most not famous but others like Reichen Lehmkuhl were a bit. Now he has another celebrity in his hands though, Kyan Douglas, aka the Grooming Guy from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” Lancy picks them well.

The new immigration plan from Capitol Hill includes a provision that would allow U.S citizens and legal residents to sponsor their same-sex partners for residency. It will eliminate discrimination and is a great step forwards and it was about time.It is ridiculous that straight people who make 10 times less than my bf and pay 10 times less taxes are able to sponsor their spouse and we are not.

Snow in 49 of 50 U.S states

13 02 2010

Almost all U.S states have snow this weekend. Only in tropical Hawaii there is none. It is so rare that all states have snow that experts can’t see this ever happened before. Even in Florida there was enough snow to make a snowball and that was enough to make it the 49th white state. Weirdly enough the northern parts of the U.S actually have less snow than normal(Canada as well) It is possible that there will be snow in all states, on the top of Hawaii’s highest volcano there has been snow in the past. That would be something!

News; crotch-grabbing people, Dick, Beckham, Hawaii civil union, Holland raised 41 million euro for Haiti

25 01 2010

Andy Dick has got himself in trouble again. The comic was arrested and charged with 2 counts of sexual abuse for groping and kissing patrons and bouncers in a Huntington, West Virginia, nightclub. He was in Huntington for his comedy shows and had grabbed attention already by dropping the skirt he was wearing as Daphne Aguilera and being nude on stage for at least 5 minutes. In a the book of Kathy Griffin there is a similar sketch described about Andy and he just seems a good guy that is extremely funny( and I would def. like to see him perform) and extremely troubled as well.

Andy was not the only person grabbing genitals this week. David Beckham got his balls grabbed by a female italian TV-host of the show The Hyena’s in Milan. After doing it she screamed: “You lied, you are small.” Meaning the Armani underwear billboards Beckham modeled for. Just super rude and the bitch needs a fine at least for this, just not funny.

The Hawaii Senate passed a civil union bill that would give gay and straight people entering it the same rights as married couples with 18-7. Now the house has to vote on it and I think it is about time this happened in Hawaii because there has been talk about it. there for years. This is the way it happened in the Netherlands and Britain as well and maybe should be what the U.S strives for as well now that all the bigots do not want gay marriage yet.

The Haiti telethon in the U.S was a success by earning 57 million dollars. Multiple stars sing live for the good cause and Madonna as surprisingly strong. Voice is really getting better by the years. In the Netherlands there was a similar action and raised 41 million euros so even more in dollars. The government doubled it so together it was 82 million euros. I think the U.S did good as well, but having 307 million people there and 16 million in the Netherlands, we did absolutely fantastic.

Pedro

24 01 2010

This weekend I watched the movie Pedro about openly HIV-positive and gay icon Pedro Zamora. He captured millions of hearts all over America during his time in MTV’s The Real World San Francisco back in 1994. The movie is from the same screenwriter as Milk, Dustin Lance Black, so destined to be great and it is. I do not often cry during movies but this was one of those movies. It is so inspirational, emotional and well acted. As a bonus the DVD also has 3 episodes from the Real World to give people like me who had not seen the series(only saw Real World Hawaii with the crazy drunk girl) an idea of how it was. The actors are all a little prettier, but definitely look a lot like the real people in the series. I think this movie is a must-see for every one in the gay community and it would not hurt straight people to see it as well.
