Gay news, Gay teen murdered in Scotland, Baltic Pride troubles, Turkish gay movement not forbidden, gay can’t play straight?

10 05 2010

A sixteen-year old gay teen and a friend have been attacked and slashed with a knife in Glasgow while walking home. He died soon after the attack and his friend is still in the hospital. A seventeen-year old male has been arrested. It is believed to have been a homophobic attack.

Baltic Pride in Lithuania that I blogged about this weekend has not gone by peacefully. Six hundred! cops had to use teargas to get the hundreds of anti-gay bigots out-of-the-way. The parade had only 300-500 participants and it shows that maybe in NY and the Netherlands Gay Pride is just a party but in other countries it is still a whole lot more.

In Turkey last friday a court decided that Black Pink Triangle, a gay group, should be allowed to exist there. The governor of Izmir wanted to have it forbidden because it was against good Turkish morals and family tradition. Great thing that even in some Muslim countries the law is on the good side.

Broadway Superstar and TV-actress Kristin Chenoweth(famous from my all-time fav musical Wicked) is playing in the revival of Promises, Promises with Sean Hayes aka Jack from Will and Grace and she fought back against a nasty article in Newsweek about how gay men cannot play straight. According to the article it is easy for straight men to play gay, but people do not believe it the other way around. Chenoweth rightly says how much it means for gay kids to see out/proud actors like Neil Patrick Harris and Cynthia Nixon(Miranda from Sex&theCity) not only succeeding in their work as an actor but also are very believable as straight. A true friend of the LGBT community.

Gay news, big star coming out a bore, Baltic Pride will go on!, Gay soccer players??, No privileges for gays in Iowa camping

8 05 2010

People were told that a big star would come out f the closet on may 5. Then it was country singer and one-hit wonder Chely Wright. Who?? Exactly. despicable country singer John Rick asked her back in the day if she was gay. When she said no, he replied: “Good,Thank God.” That kept her a lot longer in the closet.

After I reported yesterday that a court in Lithuania had forbidden Pride to go on there, no the Lithuanian Supreme Court decided different. They said the Government is obligated to defend the rights of those who want to assembly, even members of a minority group. Hope it will all go without violence this weekend.

In Spain media is going all crazy about a pic that was shot of 2 Barcelona football players in a very intimate moment against on of the player’s car. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gerard Pique are being very tender. Both are linked to women and they could just be very comfortable in their sexuality but who knows. Would be nice if eventually some soccer players come out.

Iowa lawmaker Senator Merlin Bartz, a Republican does not want to see gay couples and their kids recognized as families by the state’s park system. Rates are the same but as a family you can put up more than 1 tent. He thinks everything should stay the same as it is and gay families are no real families.

Gay news, Denmark gay adoption, Pride cancelled in Lithuania, hate crime charges dismissed in Brooklyn murder, drag queen dance-off

7 05 2010

I am surprised in a country like Denmark this was not law before but since this week the parliament passed a vote giving gay couples equal adoption rights. Until now they could only adopt individually or adopt the children of the one of the partners as step-children. Great news

Not so great is that in Lithuania, Gay Baltic Pride was banned. The court in the capital of Vilnius decided that. The court ruled that the parade could lead to public disturbances and say they can’t guarantee the safety of the participants. Nice excuse for not wanting it to happen.

This summer ¬†in Brooklyn¬†about a hate crime against Jose Suzuchanay and his brother. The two straight Ecuadorian men were walking arm in arm on the street. Jose was drunk and his brother was helping him. Two thugs thought they were gay and started screaming anti-gay slurs and anti-hispanic slurs to them and eventually beat Jose to death. Hakim Scott and Keith Phoenix were “only” found guilty of manslaughter and attempted assault. Pretty unbelievable to me.

And to finish of the news, something to make you smile. It is a dance-off between to Drag Queen in Sydney. And the girls can dance!!

Gay news, Mugabe rears his ugly head again, Lithuania just as gay friendly as Norway!!??, anti-Derrick rally

27 03 2010

Zimbabwe leaders Mugabe and Tsvirangi are outraged at even the suggestion for gay rights, Mugabe calls homosexuality something that destroys nationhood(like he not already destroyed Zimbabwe single-handedly). In 2006 he already called gays less than pigs and dogs. Poor people of Zimbabwe.

Lithuanian prime minster Kubilius defended his country against allegations from the EU that it would be homophobic by saying it was just as tolerant as Scandinavian countries like Norway and Denmark. What a joke, those countries are some of the most tolerant on the world. Lithuania, not!!

Poor Derrick Martin. First his parents throw him out of the house after finding out he is gay on such a media level. Now some student are holding a anti-Derrick rally because they do not like it that he can bring a boy to the prom and all the attention this brings to their town. Ugly bigots, shame on them. Only positive thing for Derrick, Ellen DeGeneres wants him on her show.

Lithuania forbids gay information

15 07 2009

The government approved of a ruling that has to “protect” minors from information that goes against traditional family values. This also means it is forbidden to distribute information about homosexuality, because it has a negative influence on youth. Eastern Europe is so ridiculous when it comes to gay rights ,maybe with the exception of Hungary and Czech Republic. Before they wanna join the European Union and letting other modern countries pay for them, they have to be a lot more open-minded and modern then this in my opinion.
