Longest tennis match ever!!!

24 06 2010

I could not stop watching. It was momentous, heroic and incredible. John Isner from the U.S and Nicholas Mahut from France played the longest tennis match in history. They started Tuesday and at the end of the day it was 2 set all and the match had to be suspended because of darkness. Yesterday they started again and it had to be suspended again and they will continue today. The score is 4-6 6-4 7-6 6-7 59-59!! That last set alone would have been the longest match ever played on the ATP Tour of over 7 hours and they are playing a total of 10 hours now. I was rooting for American Isner, the cute giant with the undefined body against Mahut ,”the Marcel from Top Chef look-a-like” with incredibly fit body. Isner was the most exhausted and at times you had to be worried about both their physical and mental physique. It brought back some dark memories for myself. The last real long tennis match I played(almost 8 years ago) I had a fever of over 100 degrees before the match started and I played anyway for over 2 hours, eventually back at home it was 102 and I stayed sick for 3 months with glandular fever(mono) and my health has since then never been the same. These guys are in better shape so will be fine but still, what an event. Dutch man Thiemo de Bakker is a lucky guy, he played a 16-14 last set and will play the winner of this match but I doubt these men can come back and play great anymore after all this.

Gay news, Cockring closed, counselors allowed to drop gays, Huckabee thinks gay sex has Ick-factor ,Texas GOP platform

21 06 2010

The Cocking is a big gay disco in Amsterdam and probably my favorite in the whole world. I haven’t been there in years but I used to go there every week(or more) and now it might be closing. They had a drug raid there and arrested multiple people for possession and dealing of drugs, the owner was arrested as well. I know the owner personally and always thought he was a cool and nice man(haven’t seen him in 6 years either and even if there was some drugs in the club?? What is the big deal, there are drugs in every club/disco around the world. Let people decide if they take drugs themselves. Cops could use their time better to arrest real criminals imo.

Update, Cockring is closed indefinite.

There is a debate in Nebraska about a new regulation that would allow counselors(psychologists, therapists) to drop a gay patient due to religious or moral reasons. While I would not want a homophobe counselor I also think it is very bad for people with mental problems to be denied because of their sexuality. They have problems enough as it is . So kinda torn on this issue.

Idiot politician Mick Huckabee was at is again by saying gay sex has an Ick-factor. What does he think the Ick-factor of him having sex is?? He does prefer same-sex over affairs with Nancy Pelosi and Helen Thomas.

The teabagger influenced GOP platform for Texas is calling for quite a few ridiculous calls. They want to make it a felony to perform gay marriages, and oppose legalization of “sodomy” (being gay). They also wanna ban the lottery and required sonograms for women seeking abortion.

Yes!!!! Francesca Schiavone wins Roland Garros

5 06 2010

What a surprise!! I had been a fan since I first saw her play  6 years ago at the tennis tournament in Stanford, CAFran Schiavone but never expected her to win a grandslam tournament. Schiavone played a great match winning 6-4 7-6 against Sam Stosur. It was their first slam final but they did not start nervous. With great spin and slice they made it a great fight. The difference probably was mental, Schiavone is just a little stronger in that area and she excelled in the tie-break. Super happy about this.

Roland Garros day 8

31 05 2010

Flavia Pennetta4 whole women’s matches and a set were played yesterday and I watched almost all. Every single one except 1 went as planned for my taste. Flavia Pennetta unfortunately could not beat world number 3 Caroline Wozniacki. She could and should have though. Against a boring retriever like Wozniacki all you can do(except for overpowering which skinny Pennetta never can) is making angles and waiting for your chances to go for winners. Pennetta did just that, only in the execution she made some errors and failed to close out the first set after having a set point and lost 6-7. She won the second 7-6 but after doing all the work for 3!!hours she was exhausted in the third, losing 2-6. Great clay-court match though. Better player lost.  Justine Henin and Maria Sharapova had to finish their match that was suspended saturday night for darkness. By then Justine had won an easy first set in the rain with 6-2 but in the second set the rain got less and ” Giant” Sharapova played fantastic, putting a lot of pressure on “ant” Henin and won that set 6-3. In the third on sunday Sharapova overpowered Henin big time and lead 2-0 40-0 but then Henin’s class and great mental strength came in to play and she won the game and the set /match 6-3. Sharapova(self-proclaimed “cow on ice” on clay) played pretty damn good though and on other surfaces she probably would have beaten Henin. Venus was out-hit by Nadia Petrova and once again showed she is just mediocre on clay. She will definitely be back at Wimbledon though. My personal favorites Francesca Schiavone and Elena Dementieva both made it the last 8, the first by playing some fabulous tennis. Great spin and angles and went for the net successfully a lot as well. Dementieva did not play that well but had number 142 of the world Scheepers as an opponent. She seriously needs to get those double-faults down though, if she wants to have a change against Petrova.
