Sex and the City 2

19 06 2010

Finally I saw this movie yesterday evening with my sisters. After hearing all the negative reviews and the declining audience-numbers I was very curious to see if it was worse than the first movie or not at all. We were not disappointed. We had a great time, lots of laughs etc, but that might be due to the company as well. The beginning with the gay wedding scene with Liza was fabulous. According to a blog I read it took 300 takes for Liza to get it right but eventually it was pure bliss. Carrie is still the same Carrie; bony, whiney and self-absorbed. Very relatable to me! She needs to grow up a little though, being in your 40’s and still acting like a little girl does not work well anymore on her. With Samantha it is a different thing, she can get away with anything even though she is older. Charlotte was pretty funny, but the same cannot be said for Miranda. In the TV-series she used to be clever and witty but in the movies this does not come across the same at all. Some things in the Middle-East were a little far-fetched but if you love those girls they can get away with a lot. If there is going to be a third installment I want more NY, more sex and more comedy(mot lame but sharp). Regardless, if you are a fan you will love it!! So did we.

Gay news, soccer for gays?? Ellen ruined Idol, U.N blocked gay rights, anti-gay violence in Amsterdam

5 06 2010

Football.co.uk had an article on why America hates soccer. Reasons are the sport is too multi-cultural, not enough points are scored and it is too “gay”. This last part is because in the U.S the sport is mostly for girls, the fake diving to get a free ball is not manly and the screaming noises made by some players are emasculation. WTF?? I think soccer is not gay at all. There is not even an out top player. But some soccer players do come out in favor of gay men, like Beckham and Ronaldo recently. Maybe that is it??

According to the Christian Newswire Director American Idol was a bit of a flop this year because of good’ old gay Ellen. According to them you cannot make family oriented entertainment with gay people. Parents with good morals will not let their children watch gays. Ok that is why “Finding Nemo” with Ellen was a huge children’s hit. The show just sucked this year and apparently Ellen is not a great judge. But not because she is a lesbian.

The UN proved once more what a useless organization they are by having a Gay Human Rights Commission officially blocked from accreditation. The group was in limbo for years because conservative countries like Egypt, Qatar and Sudan blocked it because other gay groups criticised their anti-gay laws. Apparently the Middle-East and Africa is more important the U.S  and Europe.

Once again there was anti-gay violence against a gay man in Amsterdam last thursday. A man was spit on by 3 foreign(of course!!) teens and when he said something about it, he was called a dirty queer and got punched in the face. Anti-gay violence in Amsterdam got up with 23% in 2009. That is why Geert Wilders’ Party is popular by gays in the Netherlands.

Gay news, Osbournes Pride Marshals in LA, homophobia in Asylum system, Prides in Rumania and Slowakia, lesbians raped in South Africa

24 05 2010

Kelly and Sharon Osbourne will be the Grand Marshals for the Los Angeles Gay Parade. They have spoken out a lot of gay issues and have always been very supportive of the gay community, so great choices. Better than Paris Hilton and her mom e few years back. Saturday Sharon hosted an Equality California event at their mansion to celebrate Harvey Milk Day.

U.K. gay rights group Stonewall just finished an extensive study that shows that almost all gay and lesbian asylum-seekers are returned to their home-country. Many are send back with the words they should just live discreet. Even though in some countries in the middle east and africa gays are really being killed for their sexuality. I totally an in favor of thorough vetting of asylum-seekers also in the Netherlands. But we do accept too many that do not need to be here and can go home and do not accept others that are in danger of their lives and would totally integrate in our society.

While Gay Pride in Rumania this weekend was a success with hundreds of participants and no violence, Rainbow pride in Bratislava was a disaster. Thousand people had accumulated on the centre to celebrate when 80 extremist skinheads started to throw stones and smoke bombs. Police only caught 8!! After the incident police asked for the Pride to be cancelled.

South Africa is all in the centre of the news because of the upcoming World Championships soccer in a few weeks. Groups have asked for people to be aware that a lot of women are being raped there because of their sexuality, being gay is still a big taboo there. One in every two women gets raped and the rate is highest in the slumps of Johannesburg and Capetown. There men still think they can “cure” women and make them straight by fucking them. Repulsive.

Bruno

16 12 2009

I finally saw the movie Bruno this weekend, half a year later than the rest of the world. I was gonna go and see it with my sister back in summer, but first I got sick and then she was on vacation and when we both had the time and felt like it, the movie was already not playing anymore in cinemas. I was bummed then, but not so much anymore. What an utter disappointment. Maybe my expectations were too high after loving Borat so much.

The first half an hour of Bruno were just excruciatingly unfunny, only slightly funny was him coming on to presidential candidate Ron Paul and then after being blown off saying even Ru Paul was not into him. The whole skit in the Middle East was terrible though. It had some funny moments later on when you see him interact as Bruno with normal people who believe he is for real. The camping trip with the rednecks where he says they are just like the Sex and the City-girls and later on wants to sleep in one guy’s tent, the swinger party where he keeps touching other guys or the boxing match in the end where all the rednecks go crazy the moment they see two men kissing. My favorite part was him talking to a conversion pastor( cures gays) who says his lips were meant to spread the word of God and Bruno said he thought the guys lips were made for sucking cock. Not great by any means but worth watching at home when nothing is on tv?? yes!
