Gay news, McDonald’s COO bigot, Sesame’s Bert comes out(sort of), heavier penalties on gay hate in Amsterdam, more anti-gay violence in Canada

16 06 2010

The french McDonald’s ad that was so cute and nice about gays has sparkled a lot of media attention. The Chief Operating Officer of McDonald’s USA, the african american Donald Thompson, says such commercials will never run in the US. Why??Because the U.S is a christian county and he himself a good christian man who has his own beliefs in that regard. Aka bigot.

Bert from Sesame Street said on his Twitter that he has the same hair as mr T, except his is a little more (ho)mo and a little less hawk. I dunno if this account was hacked or not, silly but pretty funny anyway.. They are either gay or non-sexual, Bert and Ernie. But no kid cares!! Surprised the right-wing has not attacked them the same way as one of the Teletubbies.

The justice department of Amsterdam is gonna punish anti-gay violence with an extra 50 % on top of the standard law. Anti-gay violence in Amsterdam is on the rise and police wants to use camera’s and fake-gays(police men(out of uniform) walking hand in hand) to find gay bashers. Great ideas!

Just like in Amsterdam, also in Canada anti-gay hate has increased significantly. In 2007 there were 71 incidents and in 2008 double as many. Later probably even more but those date have not been released yet. Gay organizations say this is only 25% of the real numbers because many men do not go to the police after anti-gay crime out of shame. Not surprised, have blogged about a lot of hate in Canada in the last year. Shame of such a great country.

Gay news, DADT repeal, anti-gay family sues bus-driver, Zuma critiques Malawi sentence, Glee/fag

28 05 2010

First the Senate Armed Forces Committee voted for the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal compromise with 16-12 and then the Senate also voted for it 234-195. Of course it did not go without right-wing last-minute scare tactics about gay rape and HIV transmission in the Army. Fools. European army leaders actually said another advantage about allowing gays in the military is the fact that many (gay) european soldiers had a hard time  accepting DADT in the U.S and that made it harder for them to co-operate with U.S troops. The people of the U.S were in favor of ending DADT 72 % as well. Now it is off for a final vote by Obama and Congress.

An Indiana family is suing a school bus driver after he stopped the bus and berated a girl for her continuous bashing of Obama and gays. The girl told other students they were going to hell if they supported gay marriage. The bus driver called her a little bigot and according to the parents the girl has never recovered from that incident, now 2 years ago. Maybe he should not have called her that, but then again, he was right. The girl’s parents should be ashamed. I have had a bus-driver in the U.S stop the bus because of me and my girlfriends once. We were talking too hard and he wanted us to be quiet. I have never recovered, maybe I should sue as well, haha.

South African president Zuma has strongly critiqued the sentencing of the gay couple in Malawi for 14 years prison and hard labor. In most African countries there are anti-gay laws but in South Africa gays can marry. The special thing about his comment is that it is very rare for african leader to critique one another.

I have never seen an episode of Glee, but I will definitely try to catch up on it when I ‘m back in the U.S or maybe they show it here in the Netherlands. The Madonna episode must have been great( I did see clips of that) and the Lady Gaga one supposedly was also fabulous. The father of a gay kid had a fantastic thing to say about the word fag in that one. So good that kids in middle-america here this.

Gossip, Gaga/Aguilera feud, Boy George not happy, muslim Miss USA

18 05 2010

Since the start of Lady Gaga storming to the top of the charts, 2 years ago, Christina Aguilera has dissed her. First asking if she was a men, then calling Gaga last week a newcomer(after having six number 1’s already) and saying she was “fun” to look at. It has also been really obvious Aguilera has been copying styles of Lady Gaga for basically everything she does lately. Now she wants the feud to be over and be good colleagues, a little late after all the digs. I like both, but Lady Gaga obviously more.

Boy George is not happy about a documentary the BBC did on his life  called “Worried About the Boy,” saying the only good thing was the make-up. He said the TV-movie was poorly written and had no heart. Boy George always criticises everyone and everything so not a surprise. Still think he is fabuloso though.

The whole right-wing media in the US is in a shitstorm after Lebanese immigrant Rima Fakih, a muslim/christian, was named Miss USA yesterday. I can kinda understand the shock about this for some people, but the girl was brought to the US as a baby, lived her NY and went to a catholic school. Her views seem to be pretty open-minded as well, for instance on birth control so I think she has american values. It also proves the US is diverse and she sure is extremely pretty.
