Gay news, DADT repeal, anti-gay family sues bus-driver, Zuma critiques Malawi sentence, Glee/fag

28 05 2010

First the Senate Armed Forces Committee voted for the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal compromise with 16-12 and then the Senate also voted for it 234-195. Of course it did not go without right-wing last-minute scare tactics about gay rape and HIV transmission in the Army. Fools. European army leaders actually said another advantage about allowing gays in the military is the fact that many (gay) european soldiers had a hard time  accepting DADT in the U.S and that made it harder for them to co-operate with U.S troops. The people of the U.S were in favor of ending DADT 72 % as well. Now it is off for a final vote by Obama and Congress.

An Indiana family is suing a school bus driver after he stopped the bus and berated a girl for her continuous bashing of Obama and gays. The girl told other students they were going to hell if they supported gay marriage. The bus driver called her a little bigot and according to the parents the girl has never recovered from that incident, now 2 years ago. Maybe he should not have called her that, but then again, he was right. The girl’s parents should be ashamed. I have had a bus-driver in the U.S stop the bus because of me and my girlfriends once. We were talking too hard and he wanted us to be quiet. I have never recovered, maybe I should sue as well, haha.

South African president Zuma has strongly critiqued the sentencing of the gay couple in Malawi for 14 years prison and hard labor. In most African countries there are anti-gay laws but in South Africa gays can marry. The special thing about his comment is that it is very rare for african leader to critique one another.

I have never seen an episode of Glee, but I will definitely try to catch up on it when I ‘m back in the U.S or maybe they show it here in the Netherlands. The Madonna episode must have been great( I did see clips of that) and the Lady Gaga one supposedly was also fabulous. The father of a gay kid had a fantastic thing to say about the word fag in that one. So good that kids in middle-america here this.

English most difficult language to learn

5 05 2010

A language student from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands, did an extensive research about the ability to learn a language in children. She surveyed 600-900 children, ages 7-10 in the way they adapted to a language. That has to do with phonological aspects(how the sound is) and the second aspect is the way in which the students can quickly name visual aspects. Languages that are inconsistent( letters are pronounced different in one word from the other)like English are harder for kids. Finish is the easiest to learn and Dutch is in the middle. It takes English kids 3 yeas to be on the same level than Dutch kids in 1 year. Interesting, I never had huge issues with English as a kid. Should have learned Finish as well then. But that is not of very much use!!

Gay news, St. Eustatius wants no gay marriage just dutch millions, to be gay= death ok in Wyoming, Arabic gay magazine shocks Morocco

22 04 2010

St. Eustatius is since 2006 a “special county” of the Netherlands. The Caribbean Island does want to get the advantages of that with money(millions) etc, but does not want certain dutch laws to be applied there. So no euthanasia, abortion or gay marriage. Now they wanna go to the UN to make sure they do not have to follow the dutch rules. I say, let them take care of themselves.

Casper, Wyoming homeowner Chris Turnbull has an anti-gay Leviticus sign on his fence that reads, To Be Gay = Death. Hundreds of students have to walk past this sign every day  and officials asked him to remove it but he does not have to because it’s freedom of speech. According to him he does not do it out of spite. Yeah right.

A gay magazine called Mithly, meaning gay or like me, was secretly printed in the capital of Morocco, Rabat earlier this month. It is coming out on the internet as well as paper so it can be read by as many people as possible. Conservative Islamic people in parliament are already asking for arrest of the producers. According to them they should be treated the same as terrorists. I think it is great and very brave people started this magazine.

Gay news, Mugabe rears his ugly head again, Lithuania just as gay friendly as Norway!!??, anti-Derrick rally

27 03 2010

Zimbabwe leaders Mugabe and Tsvirangi are outraged at even the suggestion for gay rights, Mugabe calls homosexuality something that destroys nationhood(like he not already destroyed Zimbabwe single-handedly). In 2006 he already called gays less than pigs and dogs. Poor people of Zimbabwe.

Lithuanian prime minster Kubilius defended his country against allegations from the EU that it would be homophobic by saying it was just as tolerant as Scandinavian countries like Norway and Denmark. What a joke, those countries are some of the most tolerant on the world. Lithuania, not!!

Poor Derrick Martin. First his parents throw him out of the house after finding out he is gay on such a media level. Now some student are holding a anti-Derrick rally because they do not like it that he can bring a boy to the prom and all the attention this brings to their town. Ugly bigots, shame on them. Only positive thing for Derrick, Ellen DeGeneres wants him on her show.
