Gay news, Ricky Martin comes out, ex- general Sheehan apologizes to Dutch, 50% of U.S ok with gay president

30 03 2010

What a surprise, Ricky Martin officially came out of the closet yesterday!! He said he did not come out earlier because people close to him warned him everything he built up would be ruined and people would not accept. Now he is not afraid anymore while writing his memoirs and wants to come clear. He says he is a proud and fortunate gay man and is very blessed to be who he is. Good for him!

Ex-general John Sheehan has apologized to former dutch chief of staff Van den Breemen for his lies about gays causing the fall of Srebrenica and that Van den Breemen agreed with him back then. He know says his memories of 15 years ago were not accurate and Van den Breemen was satisfied with the apology.

In a poll by Vanity fair and 60 minutes 50% of americans would support a gay president and 44% oppose it. Supreme Court justice is 55-40 and Secretary of State about the same. A gay quarterback in the Super Bowl is supported by 62%. It is getting better in the U.S but these numbers should all be much higher of course.

Olympics day 11, drama for Sven Kramer

24 02 2010

How unlucky was that. You are around 3 seconds faster than the number 2 at the time and seem to be easily cruising to a win and then your coach makes a mistake, thinks you are in the wrong lane and tells you to go and take the inner lane instead of the outer and you do just that because you only have a split-second to think. Just so sad and the Netherlands with 6.7 million people watching(around 2/5th of the population at 11 at night was mourning this. One of the darkest days in dutch sport. Feel not only sorry for Kramer but also his coach Kemkers. People saying he deserved this because he was rude to an american reporter after a win at the 5K are just ignorant. I think that if a dutch reporter would have asked Peyton Manning, minutes after winning the Super Bowl, if he would say his name and the sport he plays in the camera, I bet he would not have done that either. Korea’s Lee was handed the gold, silver for Skobrev and bronze for dutch De Jong.

At the biathlon it was time for the team relay and the German ladies were already handicapped before the event started. Two-time Gold medal winner at these Olympics, Magdalena Neuner, did not start because she was too tired after all her races. Germany won bronze anyway, behind Russia and France.

Gay sports news, Johnny Weir and Tim Tebow

19 01 2010

Johnny Weir, the super flamboyant gay figure skater from the U.S qualified this weekend in Spokane for the Olympics by ending third in the trials. With his love for Lady Gaga, extremely girly outfits and just by being himself he is a true crowd favorite. Some critics say he is too feminine for the sport but come on this is figure skating, not American football. He has his own reality show on the Sundance channel that started yesterday.

Tim Tebow, the University of Florida quarterback who is known for Bible verses painted under his eyes, has shot a commercial for the anti-gay Christian Group Focus on the Family set to air during the Super Bowl together with his mom.  The commercial is likely not anti-gay but anti-abortion. Focus on the Family has spent $727 thousand to ban same-sex marriage and have been outspoken against many gay issues. The guy is hot but unfortunately a bigot.
