She might not have played her best in most of the matches this tournament, but that is still enough to beat everyone. Maybe except for Serena, but she was not there so we will never know that. Have been a big fan for many years, so super excited!

Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams break World Record
9 07 2010A world record was broken yesterday during a tennis exhibition in Belgium. Kim Clijsters beat Serena Williams 6-2 6-3, while 35681 viewers watched in the King Boudewijn Stadium in Brussels. The match was umpired by Martina Navratilova. The previous record was set in 1973 between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs ,30472. Originally Henin was to play Clijsters, but she injured her elbow at Wimbledon. Serena had a foot problem so was not running optimal either, Fran Schiavone was there as a back-up. Also proves people love to watch women’s tennis.

Serena Williams wins Wimbledon 2010
3 07 2010In an unfortunately boring and very one-sided final Serena showed she is by far the best on grass for yet another year. Serena served well and her groundstrokes were awesome today. Zvonareva could not show the level she had against Kim Clijsters and was simply outplayed. A great tournament for her though. Hope she can keep up the form she had for most of this tournament.

Wimbledon final Zvonareva-S.Williams
2 07 2010Serena Williams in the final of Wimbledon is about as expected as anyone ever, just like maybe Martina Navratilova in her hey-day or Steffi. Vera Z. on the other hand is a huge surprise. I have always thought she has major potential. Great groundstrokes, good service, great feel for the ball, moves well .Except mentally it just never came together .Until this fortnight at Wimbledon that is. Her being there tomorrow on Centre Court is about as big of a surprise as my fav Francesca Schiavone was at Roland Garros, really out of the blue, but both capable players. I like Vera a lot and seen her play often too, in Stanford, the U.S Open en Charleston and she is so entertaining to watch. Her opponent yesterday Pironkova played a great first set winning 6-3, but then it was over and she made too many mistakes. Zvonareva played super solid again like against Kimmie and won the last 2 sets 6-3 6-2. Serena made an end to the fairytale of young Czech Kvitova winning 7-6 6-2. Kvitova played a great first set though and shows there is much for her in store in the future. I think Serena will win tomorrow but if Vera keeps her nerves under control it might be a tight match.
Other news yesterday showed that the fall Justine Henin suffered against Kim in the quarter-final was a lot worse than first expected. She tore something in her elbow and it out for 2 months meaning she also misses the U.S Open and the Battle of the Belgians next week. This was gonna be the tennis match with the most spectators in history and now she is being replaced by Serena Williams and will be called Battle of the World. Hope and think people will still show up and hope Justine heals quickly. I love seeing her play.

Wimbledon day 8
30 06 2010It was quarter-final day at the lady’s side and I was pissed by the end of it. What a huge chance for a Wimbledon final Kimmie threw away yesterday. Venus Williams was the first player to lose and it was big time 6-2 6-3. Tsveti Pironkova played outstanding and with slice forehands, loopy shot and great running she simply outplayed Venus. Venus was not in the best of form and you always assume she will bring it to Wimbledon but since the Billie Jean King Cup in the beginning of the year, Venus has not played that great. Kim Clijsters had to play Vera Zvonareva, I like both girls but Kim obviously more and she should have won that match. Yes, Zvonareva played great, dictated at the net and served fantastic, but Kim has never lost to Zvonareva and yesterday should not have been any different. Her serve and forehand really let her down. Serve is just not powerful enough and with the forehand she goes for too much. Zvonareva won 3-6 6-4 6-2. I really hope I am wrong but I doubt Kim will ever win Wimbledon. I think at the Australian Open and even Roland Garros her chances are bigger. Serena Williams had to play Na Li from China and this was a good match as well. Na Li is great on grass with her fast and flat shots and she stayed on course until 5-5 40-0 on her serve. She started to get heavy and nervous and made lots of mistakes to give Serena the break and basically the match. Li kept fighting but Serena kept bombing her first serves in and it was 7-5 6-3. Longest match and most even was that between Kaia Kanepi and Petra Kvitova. Kvitova beat both Azarenka and Wozniacki in straight set but she should have been beaten by Kaia Kanepi.Kanepi had 3 matchpoints in the second set but lost that in the tiebreak 8-10. In the third set it was all Kanepi again leading 4-0 and having 2 more match points but she choked it all away big time. Kvitova played good when it mattered but still, I hardly ever saw someone lose it like Kanepi. She can be proud for making it to the quarterfinals as a qualifier but Kanepi should have really won this match.

Wimbledon day 4
25 06 2010Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki and Viktoria Azarenka all won thier second round matches fairly easy in two set. Biggest upset was the loss of Svetlana Kuznetsova against former Russian and now Australian Rodionova. Rodionova, one of the biggest bitches on the tour,
has a good game for the faster courts but a Kuznetsova in good form should beat her simply. That Kuzzie has not shown up in almost a year, so it was a tough 3 set loss yesterday. One fav, Daniela Hantuchova lost in typical mental crazy matter while another ,Flavia Pennetta won in 2 sets. Other players losing were lady in form Aravene Rezai and former semi-finalist here, China’s Jie Zheng.
